London in the 1920s
The First World War was over and the "Roaring Twenties" began - it was the time when English society was modernized by industrial production and women's right to vote. The "Jazz Age" was blossoming in England and young Londoners changed the old habits and started spending their evenings in clubs.
While the invention of the record revolutionized music and dance, cocktails based on whiskey became the favorite drink of the younger generation. As carbonated drinks became more popular and suited the taste of the young, the company "Sparklets London" began to produce the C-type of the Sparklets London Soda Siphon.
The Soda Siphon culture, the new chic, seduced England on the fly. Now soda siphons were ubiquitous in London's cigar and jazz clubs as well as dance halls, where gin & tonic and whiskey sodas were served. Our Sparklets London Soda Siphon has become the symbol of an entire era.
A Hand-restored Original
Every single soda siphon we restore is an original from the 1920s. These were made to very high standards of durability and workmanship at the time.
All spare parts we use are either original or have been manufactured by us specifically for this purpose. In this way, we ensure that the original condition is preserved as far as possible.
Included in Delivery
The soda siphon is the so-called C-type - characteristic of the 1920s models, the bulb holder must remain on the soda siphon during operation. The mouth-blown glass bottle with wire mesh was manufactured in Czechoslovakia between 1920 and 1930.
