Paris in the 1920s

Ahhh, the pomp of the Golden Twenties! At the end of the first world war the air in Paris is rich with hope and excitement. A wind of change blows through the streets of the city as the Art-Déco movement and the fashionable Coco-Chanel gain more and more influence in Paris.

The emancipation of women had a great influence on society. The Parisian cultural, artistic and intellectual scene radiated into all parts of the world. The Moulin Rouge was a place to be once more and offered space to dance Can-Can. Music Clubs were well attended as bistros and brasseries served the thirsty palates of young Parisians having a good time.

The Sparklets Paris Soda Siphon was a special edition specifically designed to match the Parisian taste. Today, it is an extremely rare and sought after collectible - in fact at the time of writing this, we have seen no more the two pieces since we started our Manufaktur and currently only have one in our possession. The soda siphon was seen on the terraces of cafés in the small streets of Montmartre frequented by artists like Picasso. Synonym for Parisian chic, the Sparklets Soda Siphon had become a definite part of the city’s culture in the 1920s.

A hand restored original

Each one of these soda siphons is an original from the 1920s. It was manufactured to meet very high demands towards quality and durability no longer prevalent in industrial production today.

All spare parts used during the restoration are either original or were custom made on site for this purpose. This way we ensure that the original state of the soda siphon is preserved to the highest possible degree.

A rare glimpse of Paris

The Sparklets Paris Soda Siphon is a special edition of the “C-Type” soda siphon, created for the french market. As is characteristic for C-Type seltzer bottles, the bulb holder stays in place during use. The mouth-blown glass bottle was manufactured in Czechoslovakia between 1920 and 1930. All metallic parts were manufactured in the UK and the Siphon was assembled at the Sparklets facility in Paris. Today, it is an extremely rare and sought after collectible - in fact at the time of writing this, we have seen no more than two pieces since we started our Manufaktur and currently only have one in our possession
